Kildare County Council Arts Service invites applications to the Local Publishing Award 2024. The Local Publishing Award was established to assist Kildare based individuals and groups with the costs associated with publishing writing of local interest. The aim of the award is to recognise the contribution of scholarly work to our knowledge of the history and heritage of County Kildare and to assist with the publication of said scholarly work. It is not in the form of a prize for individual articles or essays but as a contribution to individuals and groups for the publication of their work.
It is envisaged that two awards of €650 will be offered in 2024.
Applicants should demonstrate the ability to carry out the research, printing and publishing stages of the project. Of particular interest, are works that relate to the history and heritage of Co Kildare, which should be clearly articulated in the application form. The material must be for publication in traditional format such as book, booklets, collections, compilations, or other media including film, audio and not on the internet or as part of third-party publications.

We encourage applications from all areas of the community regardless of your gender, sexual orientation, civil or family status, religion, age, disability, race or membership of the Traveller Community, or socio-economic background.
We welcome applications from artists whose first language is not English.
